A contractor who does bathrooms twice a year is guessing at the wall behind the tub. One who does them every week knows what the 1950s tract houses off Kern Avenue have in the wall before the demolition starts, and knows the difference between a job the Building Division waves through and one that needs a plan check. Narrowing the work is what buys that. It is also why we can tell you on the walkthrough whether the drain is moving, and what that does to the schedule, instead of finding out in week two.
